Real car guys don't care about what you drive, so long as you drive it and enjoy it.

"Real" car guys will sit there, whip out Wikipedia and then write the equivalent of Paradise Lost on why the car sucks and why you should feel bad for liking it.

The most annoying thing I see is when someone makes a post about a car and then someone comes and comments just to make negative comments about it. If you have nothing nice to say, don't say anything, unless it's legitimate constructive discussion like "I wish they had made it like this" not "this car is ugly" or "this car sucks!" Your post is very true

I'm not going to pretend I'm above the very attitude I'm mocking, but I've noticed that things just get flat out nasty more and more.

But, such is the internet and to a large extent real life. What seems logical often isn't perceived as such.

Just because a car exists doesn't make it a good car, nor does my liking a car mean anyone else has to like it/sit quietly as I spout off about it. The idea that everything is equal if someone likes it is getting a little weird here. Somethings are in fact better than others when comparing certain metrics and simply liking something doesn't change reality. A lot of people like what they have simply because they haven't had anything better.

I agree that I hate people coming into a thread to complain that something sucks without listing a reason simply to make someone feel bad. If someone comes into a thread about a car like my 240Z and says they don't like it because of a specific point that overlaps with my cited reasons for liking it, that's simply a disagreement. That is how things should be, there should not be silent consensus simply because no one is allowed to risk hurting the feelings of someone else. If someone dislikes a car and says it sucks, then lists specific reasons that apply to the vehicles use, then it's no longer just hate, it's debate.
